Stoned!

Face Front
Some of you may be aware that in recent months I've been experiencing occasional bouts of extreme pain, the first episode saw me carted off in an ambulance, subsequent attacks have had me driving myself to the local Urgent Treatment Unit. Well today I had an ultrasound and it seems that I have gallstones, several of 'em. This does not fill me with joy. In a weird bit of synchronicity, it seems that mum also has gallstones ... though hers haven't been causing any pain at all! There are various treatment options (very few of which sound like fun) but at least now I know what it is, which is a relief. I shall be seeing the GP about mine next week, mum's is being seen to a lot sooner .. one of the benefits of being in hospital when they discover the things.

Ugh! Really sorry to hear about this - but equally, it must be a huge relief to have an explanation, rather than just Mystery Pain. Hope that both you and your mother are cured quickly and with as little hideousness and possible!

All my sympathies to you both.

Sorry to hear that - seems to be the year for 'em. First my Mum, then Amy, now this (and I'm hoping the quack will agree tomorrow that my pains are just wraparounds from my back...). Still, mother had hers out just before Chrimbo - in for a night, keyhole surgery, about a week to recover and a full-fat Xmas dinner was enjoyed by all. She's almost 80, and surgery was the "drastic" option, so I'm sure you'll find the cure easier than the cause, and be happy when it's done. They're sneaky little beggars, though - can grow for ages without problem, but if they turn 90 degrees inside a bit they don't fit in - ow, much sympathy!

Now that you know though, if you follow all the advice about laying off the cheese and cream cakes etc., they may lay quiet until you can get them sorted (just don't assume they've gone). IIRC too, small ones can be crumbled by ultrasound, avoiding any unwelcome piercings.

I have an ultrasound booked for Friday 20th for exactly the same reason. It's an epidemic, I tell you!

Heavens, Bin! You have really been through the mill of late.
My dad had gallstones...had 'em removed and has had no problem since. That was 10 years ago so your prognosis is rosy, Hun. XXX

Hugs, not nice & can be v.painful. Here's hoping they can break them up without surgery

That's all you need(ed) what with your Mum already being in hospital requiring a lot of your attention.

Let's hope that they can deal with your Gallstones in a less invasive way.

Harsh, Buddy.
Big hugs from all of us here and wishes for a speedy resolution.
Give your mum our best, too.
